  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (or other neutral oil, for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (or dairy-free alternative)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, minced
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and pat dry the chickpeas; mash them in a large bowl until coarse.
  2. Mix in cumin, black pepper, salt, green onions, garlic, flour (or chickpea flour), and egg until combined.
  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape the mixture into patties using approximately 3 tablespoons of mixture each.
  5. Fry each patty for about 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix yogurt (or alternative), lemon juice, dill, garlic, and salt for the sauce.
  7. Serve warm with the tangy yogurt sauce.
