  • ¾ cup fresh bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons milk or water
  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 sub buns
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine bread crumbs and milk (or water). Let sit until softened.
  2. Add ground beef, Parmesan, egg, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; mix gently until combined.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Shape the mixture into meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes until browned and cooked through.
  5. Heat marinara sauce in a saucepan; add baked meatballs and simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  6. Slice sub buns lengthwise, fill with meatballs and top with mozzarella cheese.
  7. Broil on high for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.
